Andrew D. Phillips
Andrew's practice focuses on Estate Planning, Estate Administration and Probate, Guardianship Law, and Estate and Trust litigation. He currently serves as both the Public Guardian of Estates and the Public Administrator of Decedent's Estates for Cabarrus County.
Andrew was born and raised in Concord. After graduating from Concord High School in 1991, Andrew left North Carolina for sunny South Florida to attend the University of Miami. He graduated in 1995 and began a 15 year career in television production.
In 2010, he made the decision to change careers. He went to law school, and graduated in 2013. While in school, he served first as Vice-President, then as President of the Estate Planning and Elder Law Society. He also did extensive volunteer work in the community, participating in the North Carolina Bar Association's Wills for Heroes program, as well as working with the YMCA of Greater Charlotte to advise senior citizens on the benefits of proper estate planning.

After graduating from Emory University School of Law in 1973 Rick began professional practice in Georgia, touching on a wide variety of areas, including representing race car engine builders and fabricators, as well as blind business owners under the Randolph-Sheppard Act. He also represented persons accused of white collar crimes. While in Georgia, he participated in numerous civil and estate litigation cases.
In 1998, Rick moved to Colorado, where he set up a practice focusing on real estate and land use law. He also represented land developers, a local nursing home, and bank. In 2001, he began working for the Supreme Court of Colorado Office of Attorney Regulation, where he prosecuted attorneys who committed ethics violations.
In 2005, Rick returned to the South, setting up practice in Concord, where his son and grandchildren lived. Since returning Rick has focused his practice on all aspects of Estate Administration, Guardianship Administration, and Estate and Trust litigation. He has been an active member of the Cabarrus County Bar Association, where he served three terms as Vice President and One Term as President. He is also a member of the Bar for the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. North District Court of Georgia, the U.S. District Court of Colorado, and both the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals of the State of Georgia. He is also a frequent lecturer on topics pertaining to Estates and Guardianships in North Carolina attorney continuing legal education programs.
